After searching all different makes and models of cars looking for a reliable commuter, I settled on the GS400 and picked up this 1998 GS400 w/ 102k miles and full service history though Lexus from new to 99k miles. (After providing the VIN to a local dealer, the lady actually gathered all the records and faxed me the entire 5 page history free of charge... very helpful!). It had the timing belt/90k maintenance done at 81,000 miles even.
It came with the 17" chrome wheels as well as 16" stock alloys with basically new winter tires
I don't really have any plans to modify it since my other car is an '09 Corvette and covers all those bases, but I would like to improve the stance with some larger diameter or wider/spaced out wheels w/o going overboard.
I've heard this is a good forum and there's alot of 2nd gen GS support here, so I look forward to being a member of the forum.
Very glad to hear you picked up such a meticulously cared for GS4. The only thing I would recommend for you right now is to get those headlights restored. They look pretty aged.

Yea, the passenger one is very hazed, the driver side is actually pretty good... all have condensation in them though.
Welcome to CL and congrats on the new car! Plastx and a DA buffer will help with those headlights, might be all you need to do to get them clear again.
Looks great, but that rear driver side tire on the 17's is huge!
Yea, the small time dealer I got it from put on some chrome wheels after he got it from auction and I guess they came from craigslist for $80 w/ mismatched tires and slightly out of balance... I'll probably be getting rid of them.. I forgot I had some 18" tires from my old G35 still, so if they're the right size I'll just get some 18" rims and use those tires.
wow, i remember I was supposed to get one like that too...
that punk screwed me. but... how much?
this is a nice find... I dont remember ever seeing this color with black interior
BTW nice 'Vette
$8,500... seemed like a pretty good deal. I knew he had a dealer's license and had just got it from the local auction a few months prior, and I had access to Manheim values, so I tried to negotiate a price that was fair to both of us since I knew he wanted some profit out of it to cover his dealer costs and kick back to the dealer he worked under on the side.
It could use new rotors though, these are a bit warped and it pulls lightly to the right, so I'll be getting an alignment too and checking out that inner tie-rod mentioned in the service report.
