the car threw a CEL so i went to autozone to get it scanned. I thought it was a bad battery because the car has died twice recently and has trouble starting and the buttons on my key sometimes dont work. The codes where
p0441- System incorrect purge flow. WTF is that ive never heard of it?
p0440- small leak/ no flow condition. checked gas cap and hoses and everything was good
p0446- system vent control circuit- causes are poor electrical condition, oper or short circuit condition
the last code explained the battery problems so i had the guy check the battery and he said it was fine but for some reason it wasnt charging.
Any ideas as to what could be causing the battery to not charge?
or wtf a p0441 is?

did you check the alternator?

 

no i figured if the alternator went out i wouldnt be able to drive for more than a few miles

 

Have Alternator tested. Sounds like your problem. Sometimes they die slowly and only run only half their output. Then they die completely! I just replaced alt on my girls gs 400. And on a charged battery, you can get pretty far if not running lights, radio, ect... She got 20 miles back to shop on a battery and still had plenty of life on it lol! Also check your Belt(s)! The 400 has a serp. not sure bout the 300, but whatever belt th alt is running off of, Id replace with it if that is your problem! Just go back and have car scanned for alt this time! Good Luck!
