sakataj....Im assuming that all this PNP only works for the Disc based systems? The guys with Hard drive systems in their 98s are still fkd right?

OP, now that i start thinking bout it im not 100% sure on the compatbility of the gen 5. i know the gen 3/gen 4 will replace but now that it rolls around my brain i dont recall bout the gen 5

yeah, pretty much. last update for you'll is the 2004. there is a thread on here botu some guy converting his 1998-2000 nav to a 2001+ nav but he spent like 1500 (granted this was like 4 years or longer ago) and i give him props for doing it but its not worth it $ wise, cheaper to install a non nav climate control and then a aftermarket H.U. with nav

i finally got the ecu in the mail today so i hooked it up and everything is good man. now im set. . thanks for the help sakataj

Can you just buy an upgrade disc without having to replace the whole unit?? I'd like to just get the disc trying to remove the unit or whatever is way too much for me, lol. Anyone know where to get a good deal on a disc? How do I check the version I have now?

well updated disc wouldnt have fixed his problem, his ecu was a goner.how is removing and replacing way to much? its 3 10mm nuts and 3 plugs? what year and model is your car and i will tell you what you have

Just bought one for my 01 gs430 from 06 gs430 and it's totally different unit it's not plug and play different connectors

sigh, i have never seen one when i was trying to source one.....everyone i talked to said they were to expensive and i never found one for a good price

^ You need the Gen 4 from a 2005 model. Some of the 05 models had the Gen 4
