Default to many questionsss

i need some relief guys! altho i love my gs, 7 months with the car not even 10k miles were put on yet. and iv already spent close to $1500. i am not happy. my gs300 i had for almost a year and all i spent on it was a $300 fuel pump. first my tire blows (what luck) tranny solenoid, tranny service now radiator and hoses! oh not to mention i also found out i need a lower control arm, alignment and my bushing replaced thats why it squeeekkss! did sun devil not see this when i got it inspected befor i bought it!?

a question you guys can hopefully answer for me.

i just realized my paint sucks!!! my moms 93 accords paint is nicer then mine.
as you guys can tell its still black and looks nice when not in sunlight. during the day it has a ugly brown tint and spots that are even browner. what is this? oxidation? i bought this turtle polish compound and it did not hellp what so ever. so im hopeing i did this wrong. if im gunna need a new paint job im going to sell this car! and buy a benz and leave lexus forever. cause with all the money iv spent on this i could have bought a decent benz or bmw. sorry not trying to be a ***** just need to vent. its getting to the point where im having to sell my car audio to fix things.. im giving my car one more chance.

New car= payments. 10 year old car= maintenance. It's a trade off.

Im in the same boat. My car is squeaking / rattling / etc. To make it worse it only has 42k miles. I have decided to just drive it until it completely stops or the new $800 set of tires I put on wear out. I suggest that you do the same. I know that the car may be bothering you, but if it still drives down the road it is basically giving you free miles. Definitely going for a camaro ss or mustang 5.0 when it comes out.

To the OP:

You bought a high mileage poor condition example for dirt cheap. What did you expect? I mean seriously, why do you think the car is valued at 1/10 of its original MSRP???! I'm sure there are more things worn out and waiting to go out on the car as well (I'm really nervous that you haven't mentioned lower ball joints). Do you expect brakes, suspension, cooling components to last forever?

If you want something reliable within your budget buy a late 90's corolla, civic, or altima. You just got lucky with your GS 300.

Oh, and this is just the tip of the iceberg if you are considering something german. LOL, you will spend THOUSANDS every year keeping up any out of warranty BMW/Mercedes, or go bankrupt on an Audi. You obviously cannot afford upkeep on a luxury car.

And to the guy with the 42k mile GS:
If you cant figure out the minor problems, take it to the dealer or a good indy shop. I would bet your problems can be solved for less than $1k. Interior rattles can be fixed for next to nothing. I don't get what you are all upset about....and you think a Camaro won't have rattles....LOL PURE COMEDY!

Very good point. OP, you're still young and as much as you want to "ball" aint gonna happen over night. Get something cheap and reliable as stated above so that you can use your money for other things and enjoy life instead of having to put money in to your car... Then later on when you're able you can ball ball ball I realized this AFTER I bought mine. I'm not rich, but I'm stable; definitely cant afford top end luxury, but the GS will suffice. I too have repairs (as do most on here) but am able to do what I must... Finding a vehicle that you can maintain should be first on the list when purchasing a used car.

You beat me! LoL. My buddy just had his M3 serviced and 1 month later and $15,000 later he finally got his car back! LoL. So yea, they are $$$$ to keep up.

I agree with most here. 5k for a gs400 is cheap. 1.5k for maintenance should be no big deal. Getting a bmw or mercedes is not going to be different. I think thats the opposite route you want to go

Just a note to the op. I have had close to ZERO problems with my GS, Sure I have had accidents but thats negligence from my part. Bought it at 70k,I am now at 130K. Runs like a champ.

Was probably $5000 for a reason you pay that much for a car that is worth much more than that.... gotta expect there to be problems with it.

Putting 1k into a 10k worth car is pure comedy in my opinion.

Hmm... then I suppose as soon as any of us buy rims for our cars, everyone is laughing I must be a damn fool then cause I've put a bit over $15k in my car and I'm sure there are plenty in here who have spent $20k+ on their cars car is only worth as much as you want it to be... Kelly Blue Book doesnt give value or worth, it gives a price tag.

If you can't afford to keep up with maintenance on a Lexus, get your mind off of a BMW or any German car in general. Trust me, you're going to be even unhappier with one.

Why listen to me?

Because I own a Lexus as well as a BMW and I'm going to tell you right now, stick with the GS and maintenance.

I almost cried when I took my BMW in to get some things replaced.

Also, it's so much easier to work on the GS than any BMW so that will save you some money too. No labor fees FTW.

hmmm well i get what you all are saying but i mean im just kinda upset that when the car was inspected before i bought it i didnt see all this. kinda just popped up. i dont mind fixing it all cause my mom is helping me out a lil but i feel like iv spent to much and feel scammed cause i didnt know bout these problems befor i bought it. but can someone answer me about the paint. i dont know what to do about it cause the paint is like what stands out most on a car. and looking at the paint all eww and stuff makes me not want it. cause i feel like im throwing money into a car that needs way more then engine work lol. and i disagree with the benz thing! my dad has a benz and man do those cars last! oil changes every like 6k and the car runss soo smooth. no problems either. i dont know what kind it is cause i dont live with him but he said he loves it cause the mantainence isn't killing him. lol he just rolled over 190,000. but yeah i know i can't afford a bmw, i was just saying that cause i was fed up with the lex for a second. but to be honest.. i dont know one person who has a bmw and hasn't had it break down on em ha. but thats in my life.
