I've noticed that this year when it got cold out (under 40 degrees) that my engine doesn't seem to make as much power as it usually does and the gas pedal seems much heavier for whatever reason. My steering wheel also seems much heavier. So far, I've checked my tire pressure and changed my air filter, but the problem comes back whenever it gets under 40 degrees. When the temperature rises back up, it's fine. I haven't had this problem before and I've owned the car for a little more than 2 years. Any ideas or similar stories?
Both steering and breaks are related to the vacuum system, probably an old hose somewhere that is shrinking a little when it's cold, I would check out the vacuum lines.
Yes, that's typical. Seals shrink with cold, and then when it warms up they expand. Thus the pressure is restored because the seal is then restored (to a degree).
