a1exus - You should really consider using the search function more often. A lot of topics you post not only have been discussed in detail in the not so distant past, but many pertain active threads. Please do more seaching and reading, I guarantee you won't have to post as often and will learn so much more...works for me at least

a1,

You're a "class act", man- literally! The information is in the forum - as vague as it is. All you need to do is search, read, and digest the info.

However, if you really want the info handed to you in a silver platter, you won't get disappointed with me.

As you wished, "Instead of wastin money on air filter", let me suggest not to buy a new one and throw out the old one. All Indy cars, F1, top fuel dragsters don't use air filters. It's proven to increase horsepower or else they would be using it. These cars dyno anywhere from 600 to 1600 hp. Yours is only half that. Air filters pose so much restriction to our engines. You notice how tight they put the engines and all in the engine bay? The only reason world rally cars use 'em is because of the heavy dust or mud encountered during special stages. You don't see dust on US roads, do you?

And the reason why Lexus and other car companies are selling air filters is to make money off of something that's really sold on people since Henry Ford built the first one, er Mr. Toyoda.

cant say that i agree with you on this one. there is a ton of airborne particles on any given day. hell my car is yellow in the morning here in ATL from the pollen. Long term removal of the air filter will have a detrimental effect on the reliablity of the engine. to what degree i am not sure. maybe a1 can be the test guinea pig for us. and then later we can use the search button to look up the results

Wheels? tires? Where's the gas pedal?

You've been here long enough to know how to use the Search feature. USE IT!

Exclamation Air Intake

I would recommend the SRT Intake w/ the race ECU. It costs $525 right from SRT. I just purchased one for my car. Whoever said taking your air filter out and throwing it away was a good thing. Winston Cup Cars and Endurance cars all have air filters. Dragsters don't because the motors are torn down and rebuilt after e/run. Too much dirt would get into your engine.
