New Member!!
I LOVE my new 98 GS400. I came from a 99 Passat V6 with 190hp going through the front wheels. It was my first car and I loved it, at the time i hadn't driven anything much faster so I felt like my car was quick until it got totaled
with the insurance money, i bought the GS400 for 5grand, and the only thing I had to fix on the car were the brakes!! so I got new pads all around, new front rotors and a new front right caliper and that's it...that's all the money i've put into the car
but what I can say is that I did my research before i chose the car
I felt like I couldn't downgrade in performance of quality and this car fit perfectly into my budjet
I'll never forget the second I was in the car alone
I was dying to experience what 300hp rwd car felt like being that I was coming from a 190hp fwd car. All I can say what the second I pulled up to the first red light and it turned green.....

!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!! Since then I've never looked back
lol when I bought the car, it did have a lot of stone chips on the hood and front bumper but i've been haunting this forum for a while and realized lexus didn't exactly use the best quality paint
so after a month and I had saved up some money, I had the hood and front bumper re-painted and the car detailed
and for some odd reason the previous own put that tacky silver lining crap on the edge of the doors
so I removed it. For my own personal taste...I lightly tinted the tailights, tinted the windows 20% and debagged the rear
much cleaner IMO.
Sidenote: I knew the car was fast but not this fast....the other day on the way home from DC, I was on I-270 and a manual 05 G35 coupe pulled up next to me and revved his engine
I figured..why not see what this old girl has....so we dropped our speed to around 25mph and on the 3rd honk we gunned it!!
I slowly began pulling away and after a bit of time I was at least 3 car lengths ahead of him!! We did this about 3 more time and all the 3 times ended in the same result!!
he asked me what I did to the car and I said "nothing, its 11 years old, stock motor and its an AUTOMATIC" lmao he looked at me in disbelief
lol
Another time a Ford GT pulled up alonside me and I beat him from a dig also lol
LEXUS FOR THE WIN!!!
My only gripes about the car is that the previos owner didn't take good care of the leather in the driver's seat, so there are some marks there but all the other seats are perfect. I get the feelin he/she (more likely a he
lol) modified the car in various ways because the carpet in the trunk is cut up (probably from an aftermarket sound system) and the coin tray bin was a little loose (probably was preiously removed for another reason) other than that I love the car.
Next on my list of mods is a new intake so it can breather a little better (I've been haunting this forum for about 4months now so I know the controversy over it), a new exhaust so it can fart better lol I just want to be able to hear that V8 rumble, drop it an inch or 2, and some new wheel (18"s maybe 19")....but this will take some time as I am still a college student and have bills to pay plus a job that barely pays lol
Thanks for reading guys
I'm looking forward to future advise from all of you...enjoy the pics, the first few ones where a few days after I bought her, the last few are more recent

Welcome to CL. You will absolutely love this car. Be careful, the mod bug starts out with something small like tinting your tail lights. I vowed to keep my car stock when I bought her. So much for that.

Welcome to the club. You have a great looking GS400, and I'm glad you took that silver crap off the doors. I don't know why people do that to their cars. Good luck with her, I'm sure you'll get many miles and years out of this car.
