Default Got some riding low quetions

Hey does anyone use any kind of alerting system ?(especially for driving in new area's) besides scrape scrape along the ground that is. Also i was thinking about a splitter, installed to not protrude past where the bumper ends? extending from the fron to sa right after the cats or at least the space between the oil pan and the cats (like right at the curve of the exuahst). I'm thinking I hear the scrape scrape of plastic before metal. any suggestions would be great, i know riding low= scraping but I just want some more advance knowledge or something to maybe prevent disater-already failed once-car still in the shop

you hear plastic? all i hear is metal scrape. I see the exhaust as the lowest point on the car, and its stock. the only plastic i can think of that could rub is your fender liners. is it those?

no I hear metal, rear exhaust sometimes, but from the oil pan to the area where the pipes curve to go back is the most scetchy-poked a hole in my old gs's.

that shouldnt be a problem riding that low, our GS's oilpan is way higher then our frame rails. its not a FWD where the oilpan will hang really low. your bumper should hit before the oilpan.

No it wont trust me on that its possible to hit the oil pan without hitting the bumper. I got a dent in my oil pan and my bumper never hit and I have the TTE lip. Got to adjust your driving style if you will be dropped, I live in NYC and driving aggressive here with a huge drop is not advisable. The thing with the GS is that the upper control arms in the front will hit the strut tower depending on your drop. If you are driving in a new area drive slow and learn to scan the road in front of you for anything that can damage your car. It takes practice and being very alert to drive super low.

Agreed, being alert is the most overlooked thing when driving low.

yeah there is no cheat sheet- when going into new areas just look a long way ahead, be very careful, try to avoid anything that seems iffy...its a pita but thats driving slammed!

Agreed. You have to pay attention. When I first got air, I kept driving normal(fast) and I scraped alot. Its taking time for me to get used to driving slow(unless Im on the freeway)

well, that's exactly the kind of good advice i expected, but was hoping someone had come up w/ a solution, not just to be lazy, but night driving, long trips, other countries etc. think I'm gonna have to go w/ a fatty tire setup on the 19's to be safe, although I will have to see, some of the roads are exellent here and those are mainly the one's i've seen.

It would take some extra effort, but you can get a sheet of aluminum plate, cut and bend it to fit, and bolt it on under the car. Also the aerodynamic advantage of having the whole front of the car flat. This will keep most of the rocks and sharp objects from puncturing the oil pan. Now, if you bottom out the car very badly then it won't help you lol.

i dont think he was kidding. its essentially adding some protection and aerodynamics to the car. kinda overkill but it all depends on what u wanna do. i personally want a rear diffuser but dunno if i will get one, hell i have to get a undercarriage tray again as i know i will lose some mpg on the interstate without having one
