Default 19"/20" Stagger. Anyone done this?

has anyone ever tried this? 19" fronts and 20" rears.
to me it seems 20s in the back would tuck much easier and look nicer overall.
19s look too small to be in the back
has anyone done it or have pictures of it?
i'd love to see it. thanks

I've seen it just recently on a blue GS (on here) Imma see if I can find it. I didnt like it you can easily see the tire size difference and looks really bad. (I'll go look for it)

this is common practice in Japan. I dont figure how you think you need more in the rear to fill it up though, because if you look at the guards you will see the fronts are already higher than the rears...so if anything the 19 looks small up front.

anyway, as i say, the japanese do it a fair bit so they can have rim even with fender on a 19 up front, and tuck rim up back on a 20. they normally run 5mm less profile on the 20 than the 19 e.g. 35/30 or 30/25.

this car has 19 front 20 rear:

Corvettes have this staggered set-up stock. I don't see why not.

The radius of the front wheel arch on a Corvette is smaller than in the rear, so they look more proportionate. This is also true on newer Vipers and all NSXs... they were designed for this set-up. That being said, Corvette and Viper guys are all putting on 20s front & rear if that tells you anything.

Technically, to keep the ABS and TCS on a 2GS happy, you'd need to run something like 245/35-19 front and 285/25-20 rear. That's not a typo- the rear sidewalls would be shorter than the fronts. Nobody can convince me that this will look good; sort of a "reverse hot rod" look.

My main concern is that in the profile view, visually the smaller diameter front wheels will never have the visual presence of the larger rear wheels. The front ends-up having a bigger "gap" at 9:00 and 3:00 positions when viewed in profile.

Thanks for shedding some light on the subject. If Corvette, NSX, and Viper owners all put i.e; 20's all around rather than the 19"/20" staggered setup, why do vehicle manufacturers let its cars roll off the assembly line this way? Is it purely for aesthetics (such as the wheel arch example) as you mentioned? Or are there actual performance/handling improvements with this type of setup?

Can't speak for the Corvette's, but most NSX owners still run a staggered diameter rim like 17/18, or 18/19. Very few run same size all around or even 20's on an NSX. The reason why at least for the NSX to have the smaller rim up front was so the fender wells could be made smaller for more interior room, as well and probably most important at the time for the quicker/sharper steering response and feel. If you get the chance to drive a stock NSX with the old 15/16, or at least the 16/17 tire set up, then drive that same car with some larger rims, you will notice in most cases it feels a little more numb feeling. Almost like a regular car.
