I just received my Autoweek a couple days ago. While reading about the Jag S-type R, it said that all S-type's are now using a 6 speed trans. Actually, it is the same one that is used by the new BMW 7.

My question is, does anyone know if the next GS is going to follow suit and build a 6 speed trans, or update the current 5 speed??

 

I hope they go with either a 5-speed SMGII style transmition or a six-speed auto(or both!).

 

An SMG would be great!! Maybe for the the Lexus version of "M".

After reading that Autoweek article, i was somewhat disappointed in teh review of the Jag. They said it won't compare to the M5.


I guess Lexus is our only hope

 

And upgraded SMT system (Sequential Manual Transmission) which is a clutchless manual...how to upgrade? Offer a full automatic mode, make the shifting faster (like the BMW SMG II), and include a launch feature (like the BMW SMG II)...

Or just make a system EXACTLY like a BMW SMG II...just 100% reliable...that would be better...

 

If only the car can spit out more torquw and power can we truly utilize the extra gear...

 

they better go with "both"
