GS430 Knock Sensors
I was driving my 430 the other day and as i was pulling into a parking lot, the check engine light came on, which has never happened in the 25K I've put on it since I got it. As soon as the check engine light came on, the car bogged terribly. You had to press the gas more than 50% throttle to get the thing to move. I think I could of lost to a single cam civic with it giving me car lengths. So I pulled the negative terminal out of curiosity and it goes away. The car pulls away driving completely normal for 10 more miles. I take the car out again and as soon as I go down the road, the check engine light comes back on it bogged right back down. I had no idea it could have that much of an effect. I know the job is very labor intensive at a shop. I'm just curious as to what people have paid in the past to get them done...Shops around here are quoting me 900 and 1000 for 2 oem knock sensors, all associated gaskets, etc.

How do you know it's the knock sensors? Did you run a OBD2 code reader on it?
If you were local to me, I would put it in for $250 lol. The sensors I can get for about $150/each. So $550 if you were local to me
The reason it costs so much in labor is because you have to remove the entire intake manifold to get to it. You're pretty much at the point of replacing the starter at that point. Might as well replace the guts of the starter while you're at that point just as preventative measure in the future heh.

Pretty sure it's your knock sensors, I think I paid about $1k for mine last year at the dealer. If you have an Indy shop do it (or attempt to do it yourself) be sure and use true OEM knock sensors from Lexus, not the ones found on eBay.
