I'd think you could do it fairly inexpensively using some of the lower end home equipment (like this). I doubt the LED variety would look as good as the Fiber Optic but would be a good compromise for a budget show car

Couldn't get around the 'time consuming' part though

very nice whitevomr is wanting to do this too. i am talking to some custom limo services here in atl. getting some good info i'll share more when i get some more info.

funny...i was watching some show this weekend while i was in atalanta about rich people's houses and this lady had one made for her kid....where it showed the sun rise & set/stars/shooting stars etc etc and it cost her like 15k. was nice but DAMN

there was a DIY magazine (interestingly for DUB type cars) in Japan...they used LED iirc. looked like a rats nest but they covered it back with fabric and the fabric was just enough to cover the wiring and let light through.

I used about 500 lights to do this. Its been about a week and a half since I done it, took about 14 hours but it was worth it. I posted on my YouTube channel Black Tuxedo22 it’s the most recent video I posted!
