Question GS Delivery Time

Anyone have any experiencees with ordering a GS?

I have a GS300 on order (BL/BL, ML) - ordered 1st week in January. Dealer stands by 90-120 days, what has your wait time been? Any experiences?

Thanks!

I could be wrong on this, but this is what I heard....

After the 9/11 twin towers tragady, Lexus/Japan, predicted that the American public would not be in any mood to be buying cars so they scaled way back on production....

They realized sometime mid-november that they were wrong and were accumulating a massive backlog of cars on order.....

This was told to my wife about 6 weeks ago by a Lexus Corp. V.P. who was buying a couple of Porsches from her shop. She was inquiring because we were test driving a cpo G4 because our local Lex dealer had no new G430'S and only 3 new G3's on the lot.

Thats the story as I understand it. I could be wrong, but just passing on what was told to me.....

Hope this helps.

I'm surprised they can't find that car for you (fairly common color, not any unusual options) at a nearby dealer. Have you tried calling the other dealers within a couple hundred mile radius?

If one cannot be found in the US (and I might add that shipping charges are pretty significant if you get outside your region), then there is always the possibility that one will come in before your special order arrives. Your dealer can then do a swap (though again, if outside your region, might not be cheap to ship).

Otherwise, factory order is indeed 3-4 months (usually closer to 3). He'll call you when it's on the boat (that's when he's notified of that particular allocation), and at that point, you're within 2 weeks. For a January order, unless it was late in the month, your car ought to be close at hand.

I ordered my GS430 Silv/Blk Nav/ML on the 28th of Feb. They will have the VIN next week and I'll be taking delivery in 3 weeks. 90-120 days? Dear lord thats a long time. I can't imagine it unless your car is a completely non-standard build for the GS300. Sounds like the dealer you bought it from just doesn't do squat for sales.

Unhappy 90 - 120

Thanks for the responses. 90-120 does seem long to me as well. The dealer thinks it will be in soon. We did look around the US, but no BL/BL ML - I also wanted chrome wheels which seemed to be an issue. Shipping costs would be about $1,400 - $2,000 for about 500 miles plus.

Lex seems to be missing out at times with some of the stock they are shipping, but IMO this car will be worth the wait - hardly see any black on black in Atlanta. I will let you know when it comes in and of course, post a pic. The daily calls to the dealer will start this weekend!
