Default Need some SERIOUS help! and fast!

I have a friend of mine who owns a rim shop locally. He got an INSANE deal on some Ace Forged wheels; 2-piece forged. Let's put it this way...I just researched a bunch of on-line websites and they are selling for around $850-$1000 per wheel depending if I go with 19's or 20's. With tires INCLUDED (mounting/balanced AND shipped) will be a couple hundred cheaper than what the WHEELS ALONE go for! It is a little more than what I wanted to spend.

The ONLY KICKER is that I am limited to only 2 choices, because this deal is so good I have to only choose between 2 options that have been custom built already. So nothing can be custom tailored to my needs. Here are the wheel specs...please let me know how the fitment will be on my GS400 (Oh BTW, I am lowered on Bilstein PSS coils; they do NOT slam though).

(I like this style a little more)
19's

Front - wheels...19X8.5 +37 (2" lip; 24lbs) / tires...245/35/19
Rear - wheels....19X9.5 +40 (3.25" lip; 26lbs) / tires....275/30/19

20's
Front - wheels...20X8.5 +37 (2.25" lip; 25lbs) / tires...245/35?/20
Rear - wheels....20X10 +42 (3.75" lip; 27lbs) / tires....275/30?/20

Now remember, the 19's are a totally different style from the 20's. I am looking for the BEST fitting wheel that is CLOSEST to fitting flush with my fenders. I like the styling of the 19" wheels a little more.

Which ones are my best option?

Thanks! I need to ACT QUICK or this deal will go away!

They are BOTH (I don't want to tell you guys yet which models they are) very nice.

This question is STRICTLY regarding fitment on my GS400...obviously the style will be undisclosed until I make my final decision on which wheel size I will go with...

rock-a-lex, depends on the style and what your looking for. If the 20" wheel is similiar to a 3 pc wheel with rivets, it will look like a 19", and so with the 19" look like an 18". If its a full spoke design the 20"s will definetely look larger.

1/2" of lip, to me, isn't that much of a difference, if your just going for looks the 20" is the way to go, but if you want acceleration and more gas mileage go for the 19" just my 0.02

good luck

Offsets are nearly identical. Weights are 1 pound different per corner, and I know you were striving for performance in your setup, that might be a factor. There isn't much of a difference between 19" and 20" tire prices. 19" will be a little more comfortable. I'd go with 19s for comfort, pothole insurance, and unsprung weight reduction. 20s look 10% nicer IMO, but only 10%.

Why not a lower offset to get it flush?

My personal opinion is that the 19's will be a better choice considering the NY region streets/roads you'll need to navigate. The extra cushion in the 19 tire fitment will help keep a quality ride.

GL!!

IMO don't do it. The offset is pretty weak for your car.

In the end are you going to be 100% happy that its not exactly what you wanted (offset/style/ect..)? Deal or not if you are getting custom wheels for your car do it right so you wont need spacers or anything for that matter.

Hrey Mike,

I hear you on this but I AM happy with the style for sure and at 24lbs and 25lbs (multi-piece) respectively I can "live with" the offsets. FYI...I closed the deal last night on the 19's; the cost - $3500.

Look them up anywhere on the net, they go for $800 - $950/wheel! So right off the bat the tires were pretty much completely free if you look at it that way. Chrome lip and chrome outer edge with a brilliant silver powdercoat face.

My new setup is going to make the fronts come out further by a hair +38 ---> +37 still 19X8.5 and my rear should come out further by about 1/2" more due to the fact that my old setup was 19X8.5 +38 in the rear and now they are 1" wider wheels but 2mm more inward (+40) so the net effect should be roughly a 1/2". So I probably will only need a 10mm spacer or so in the rear.

For the look I'm going for I don't think that my previous setup was THAT bad...and this new setup will only be better with a better looking, higher quality, lighter wheel.

Here are 2 pictures of my previous setup. 19X8.5's (+38) all around for your reference (before my car was dropped).
