Default Removing Gold Plating from Emblems?

I've got some center caps with the gold L emblems and I was wondering if anyone knows what to use to take this off to leave the emblem silver. I was thinking about paint stripper but it might be too harsh on it and possibly deform it. Lightly sanding it would take too long since the emblem is pretty small and fragile. Any other ideas or compounds that are made for this?

And please don't comment with just go buy new ones, I already knew that.
Thanks in advance!

Here are finished results.. DIY

Needed..
-Emblems
-Mothers Aluminum Polish
-Dremel
-Goggles (highly recommended)
-Gloves
-Patience

This was my first time doing anything like this so it didn't turn out perfect by any means.

Won't work. It'll strip the clear coat off but won't affect the gold.

my wheels are the chrome 16" wheels so it's a little more difficult to find a set. the L emblem seems a little smaller than the usual ones but would any flat surfaced Lexus cap fit?

this is what i have right now. except the gold isn't all shiny, it's flat and faded.

would these fit as a replacement? even though the emblem is bigger? my diameter is about 2.5" but i'm not sure how big these are.
