There are certain categories of mods to your car than you "maybe" can cut corners with "if you must", but suspension is definitely not one of them, especially with a Lexus. Your buddies and females will sit in your car and be like, "wtf, are your struts blown?" it really kills it.

the way i see it, if you have to resort to cutting springs, you don't have enough money to drop your car properly. thats that. just save some money and ride at stock high longer or find a good deal that is going in the right direction towards a proper drop.

i really dunno what else to say, but in the end, its your car, we're just warning you and trying to give u reasonable notice as to the foreseeable results of doing this.

i've seen it before, and unfortunately, i'm sure CL will see it again.
Respectfully, ....saying a "proper" drop has to be more than an inch, is opinon. It seems like every post on here where someone says "hey, look at my drop" someone else says "go lower", and every "check out these wheels" post is almost always followed by "save up and get brand X rims..." Not everyone wants to go low, everyones taste is different, everyones car is different, rim size, etc. I am by no means suggesting that spring cutting should be your first choice, but again, if you do it right, it can be done with reasonable results.

I would not say that cutting defeats the purpose, it depends on what the purpose is. It could be simply cosmetic, maybe a subtile drop, nothing extreme, it could be budget, it could just a DIY fetish. If you want the best performance, go coilovers, i fyou want more than a 1.5 inch drop, buy springs. Somewhere in the middle, lyes the spring cut. It's not for everyone, and you can't just go hacking coils, and expect everything to be perfect. Done incorrectly, it WILL be a problem. It does take some skill. But IMO it does have it's place.

....but you are right, in the end, it is the individuals choice about his car, it is our job as a community, to provide those doing research with facts, and some educated opinions so that they may make an informed choice on what they do to their own car.
