masflow - If you live in Wisconsin, I would suggest that you go with a color temperature that's closest to 4300k as possible. The reason why is because the wet pavement will "soak up" the blue that is found in higher color temperatures like 6k or 8k. From the exterior, the car may look great with the bluer lights but functionally, you'll be at a disadvantage.
We actually happen to have the same car and on my 98 gs3, I have 4300k lows and fogs and it seriously is the brightest car on the road at night, rain or shine.
