So 1st off I'd like to say, YES i have searched and YES ichecked out rominls wheel/tire fitment guide.

Now to the question, I just slapped on some 19" HP Design rims on my '01 GS430, 19x9 in front & 19x10 in back I don't know the offsets. Now I bought them with tires already, which are 235/35/19 in front and 285/35/19 in back. The back tires are HUGE and super fat and rub horribly (probably due to the fact that I have a heavy a$$ system in the trunk). I should also mention I'm on the stock suspension. Now I'm going to be buying all new tires and will keep the fronts the same size but I want the back to be smaller. Now my decision is between 275/35/19 and 265/35/19, I want the tires to be slightly stretched like the fronts but not stretched where the lip of the wheels sticks out like half an inch lol. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow on my day off so you guys can see what I'm talking about but is anyone out there running this setup? I also would like to make sure I dont rub so much ...

These wheels came off an old 5.0 Mustang turboed with 700whp so he said he got this fat tire setup to get as much traction as possible and I have to admit, I haven't been able to spin the tires from a launch so I'd say they work pretty well for that purpose. Any advice is welcome !!

well if u want a stretch, a 235/35 on the 10" will look good.

 

Well I just want a very moderate, conservative stretch. I guess I'll definitely have to post pictures to show what I'm talking about ...

 

245/35/19 for the rears should be good if you want a moderate to little stretch.

 

245/35 is a pretty nice stretch depending on tire brands, as some tires do run true to size. post up which tires you will be going with the properly determine which size to get.

 

265/35 is what your looking for IMO the 285 is just to meaty

 

265/35 is definitely what I was thinking about, i want them to look just like the fronts. And btw I will be going with the Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 all around as soon as I can find 'em a little cheaper than almost $300 a piece lol.

Bridgestones are beefy sidewalls I would get 225/35, plus the RE050 suck for what they cost. I had a set on the car and I put 15000 miles on them they were done. Plus they are noisy.

 

Noise doesn't bother me too much, but what tires would you suggest? I had the RE050's on my stock wheels and they performed pretty well which is the main thing I look for in tires ...

 

I had azienis.. (not RT615 but the other one) n they didnt grip well...

i have Nitto INVO's on all 4 corners and so far im happy with them. Dry traction is nice (havent had a change to try wet traction yet) and its pretty darn quiet.

 

Myfavorite thing about the potenzas is they perform amazingly well in the rain. No hydroplaning ever, even at 80+ mph on a wet highway. No skidding while hard braking, and no loss of traction

 

Ok so I finally got pictures of the rims, sorry most of the pictures are right after it rained so they car doesn't look too clean lol ...

 

Ok so now with these close-ups you can see the difference in tire fatness between back and front, I want the rear tires to look the way the fronts do on the wheels, so would the 265/35/19's be the right size (Without rubbing)?

 

i have 235/35 on a 9 up front and 245/35 on a 10 down back.

245/35 is a fairly obvious amount more stretch on the 10 than 235/35 on the 9. i am running nexens and looking at your front i think nexen stretch a bit more, but even so my 245/35 on 10 has rim sticking beyond the edge of the tyre.

doing the maths 235 works out to 9.25, but it still stretches. so 255 works out to 10.0 and 265 works out to 10.4.

so going by that i would think that 265/35 is probably more in the right direction as 255 might still be a tad too stretched for you. i dont think that either will give you identical amount of stretch but should be close.

 

I would sell those wheels and get suspension on stockies for now ..

and remove eye lids ... and btw rears needs the 265/35 to match ...
