List of mods and pic of IS next to mine. What made it worse, every car around me was thumping their sound system, so when i turn mine on the glue around the cone split and caused a popping noise. I went and found the JL audio rep and showed him what happened. Even being out of warrranty he called Stereo West to bring me out a new W6 sub and they hooked me up.

There are many, many factors involved with judging, and how "fair" it is.
As far as the number of judges, that all depends on how many cars and how much the promoter is paying. Most judging companies charge by the car, or how many total cars there are. The issue is that most judges don't know everything about all cars, and especially trucks. For Honda guys....some judges don't know about Spoon or Mugen, so how are they going to judge that against a VIS Racing car?
With your Lexus, it also depends on the overall execution the judge is looking for, and the competition. If the class you are in was a VIP class, I would not place you as high for wheels and stance. Nothing against your car, but those are key to the VIP theme. If the class was more Dub, you would place higher.
The way we use to judge was quality over quantity. I'd rather see a well done modestly modded car with the best parts over a car that had every cheap accessory available from Pep Boys. Also fitment, functionality, form, execution, and cleanliness are key factors.
One way we tried to level the field was to break up the judging sheet by categories like Exterior mods, Interior mods, Engine, Suspension, Audio…and so on. Points were awarded for cleanliness, quality of materials and equipment, fitment, execution, etc. If you had a full Wald bodykit, but it fit like crap, the paint was peeling, it was dirty, and cracked, you would score lower in points for Exterior than the guy with a factory bodykit, flawless paint, perfect fitment, and super clean. Paint is the toughest since a new car will have the best paint as far as quality. I actually judged a guy with an old RX7 that had factory paint (no respray) and it was flawless!!!! I placed him higher than a guy with custom airbrushed everything, but the paint was wavy, orange peel, and overspray. He was pissed, but after I went over the score sheet, he understood.
Again, all judges cannot be experts with every type of car/truck. Judging is also a subjective exercise. Oh, and for those who think “friends” win, that may be true in local small shows, but the HIN’s of the world, it’s a matter of sponsors. If a car is associated with a sponsor of the show, they will get a slight edge. But, at the bigger shows, you will notice the winners are pretty high caliber cars.

sorry to hear that man. your car is clean. a lot of car shows and judging is political. sometimes it is about who you know and things like that. however my mentality when i go into a show is just to show off my car and what i have done to it. my reward is other peoples appreciation of that. and if i take a trophy home as well its just a bonus..
keep up the good work man.

That's the most humble comment I've seen in regards to a car show and I agree with it 100%...My boy with his boosted jdm'd out s2000 gets mad everytime he loses at a show...I hate to break it to him but not everyone loves jdm, ya know.
Thanks for the detail reply. I don't understand why he just didn't leave the Audi wagon in mid size class and give him first there and give me first in full size class. Maybe he doesn't like Lexus vehicles
The whole point of being in the car shows is to have fun and hangout. This is an opportunity for you to see what others have done to their cars and what you can do to beat that...or compete against it.
