I haven't seen a Lexus Police car in my area yet, but I wont be surprised if/when I do. I already see some really nice newer 07+ Infiniti G35-S police cars with aftermarket rims no less. Officers here can used their own personal car as a subsidized patrol car so we have all sorts of police cars on the road.
Well if the GS is more reliable, then maybe it will be better in the long run. I know most German cars will take a crap very close to the 80-100k mark(yes I've had first hand experience) and require VERY expensive repairs. American cars will do the same, but repairs are much cheaper. If the Japanese car will last up to 200k+ with no repairs needed, then it may be worth it for them.

+1 I came from the German side. Although I LOVE German cars I came to Lexus after I was tired of just getting my car where I wanted to then a very costly repair would occur. Audi's BMW's are great.. but if you have to repair them its going to hit the wallet.. hard and you want to talk about a $tealership, try your local BMW dealer for prices.
Another +1 for the too-expensive German rigs, first-hand (Audi A4). I'd MUCH rather have a 330 or 335i than my GS, but I'd rather have the Lexus reliability overall.
