Navigation System
Hey you guys. I found a 1998 LS400 navigation system for sale. will it work with my 98 GS300? It has all the wires and eveything uncut and it also comes with the factory 6 disc changer. Let me know your thoughts.
it has everything? Screen and GPS module? how much was it? I think it would still be very hard, because your dash has a different layout (air, stereo controls). I am very curious to see if it could be done, and how much it would cost.
This may help.. Last year I bought a CPO LX470, without the navigation, I asked the dealer if I bought the actual Nav unit from the 2001 (the first year it was offered), if it would work in my 1998, he said no. Maybe he was wrong, but I would also say if it wouldn't work in the same model different year then it surely wont work in a different model.
Your Lexus service dept will be the only one who can definitely say. Call a few and see.
IMO, even if it is possible, it'll cost you big $$$$ for labor. Aside from the physical location as mentioned before, the nav screen also integrates climate control, entertainment, trip computer, and of course nav. I don't know the process of converting the discrete buttons into the touchscreen interface.
This question has been asked a few times, and to this day no one has completed the retrofit. I don't even know if anyone has even tried after researching the cost.
Good luck.
