I have a first gen. 99 gs400 and they didnt come with DRL's and I also have the polarg M6's installed in my car and I have to tell you they look AWSOME!!!!!!
Any suggestions on the "MOST SIMPLE WAY" of installing these bad boys?
Carefully! Seriously, you gotta be careful puttin' 'em in. It's gonna suck even worse if you have big hands like mine. I think you turn the little light base counter-clockwise to open. PULL STRAIGHT OUT. Don't touch the new bulbs. Put the new ones STRAIGHT IN! Don't let the bulb touch the side of the light enclosure or try to angle the light in. Those Polargs have very thin glass -- they won't take much to break. It can take some effort to get the light base to seat back into place properly. Be patient. If you start to get frustrated (like I did) walk away and come back later. And don't do it right before work (like I did) -- you'll end up 40 minutes late (like I was). If you doubt your abilities, buy an extra set. I had to wait more days after I broke my first set. If you get 'em right the first time, then you'll have set when the first burn out a year later.
Someone asked me where I got my Polargs. I flipped though my receipts for the past couple years and couldn't find the invoice for the bulbs. However, a quick search on Google revealed a number of places that sell the bulbs. On fellow on the bimmer message board suggested http://www.autodynamic.com . In fact, the place I bought the bulbs from a year ago was changing names I think this may be the same place. Since I'm not completely sure, I can't recomend the place. But I doubt they're going to rip you. The bulbs cost $8 - a buck more than I paid (woohoo).
Biggie and all else who helped and made suggestions, Thanks a bunch! I installed them both yesterday in about 10 min. no less! That was quite a relief considering my tail lens "project install"! They look F#@&*! SWEET!!! Man what a difference! Pictures coming soon...........
I baught my gs400 on april,13,1998 it was the only black 99 gs400 in washington at the time and it had no DRL's on it which I think is better especialy since my subs take away so much power from the batteries
this is the exact site where I got my polargs from I just found it on my favorites this link will take u strait to the M6 you dont have to look through the site like I did it was hell to find these things back then http://eautoworks.com/html/ORD-Light...-208-none.cfm#
Polarag M6 wedge (4)
Opti-Blue 9005 bulbs (2) rated at 5000K light (almost HID)
Opti-Bule 9006 bulbs (2) fog lights, only if you have cleared out the yellow.
i would say each light would pretty much look the same!!
i dont have these bulbs yet, i only have a set of crappy toucan high beams, still looks the same, just a bit whiter. i am going to get 4 sets of bulbs 1 high beam, one fog and 2 wedge when i get the money. that way pretty much everything will look HID
Well, I got them and installed them tonight. The passenger side was easy, the drivers side took like 15 - 20 minutes or so, but it is SO worth it. Looks super sweet, and I'm sure adds a little visability. Thanks for the info guys.
