Default Consumer Reports

The CR ratings are based on a few hundred thousand (?)questionnaires filled in by owners each year. I believe if the response for a certain make/model isn't large enough to be statistically significant, the car doesn't get into the published comparison listings. You may notice that in addition to the Lexus LS, the BMW 740 and other very expensive cars are not in the detailed comparisons, probably because of the small numbers owned by CR subscribers. However, in the snapshot section their test evaluations are included, along with the colored dots showing the general range of reliability, satisfaction, and depreciation.

JD Power and Associates took care of the LS in their list of most reliable cars. So does Consumer Review.
