18" or 19" Wheels ?
I have another question for you guys, I have a 2001 GS430 and I am trying to decide what size rims to get, so it doesn't affect my ride. I am looking at 18" or 19" rims. What do you guys think?
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Went to a CLubLexus meet and saw all the hooked up rides really helped make my decision (right Bit)
Went with 18's cause
Car is daily driver
I GO THROUGH tires
If 245/40/18 and 275/35/35 is good enough for the M5 and E55, why not me?
Atlanta has POTHOLES!

I think 19's look much better. That said, tire prices are much much higher. It's a comfort vs fashion decision. In your position, I would go with 19s. Then again, I sell wheels.

Need For Speed, Wheel Kinetics is absolutely correct IF you really mean what you say as far as not affecting the ride. Lower sidewalls = more impact not absorbed by rubber deflection means your butt is gonna feel the difference. That assumes no change in other suspension components, but no one on this forum is going to recommend lower spring rates or softer shocks to compensate......
Btw, if you indeed have "need for speed" the larger the wheel (in general), the slower the acceleration.......always tradeoffs.......

SandRock...the recommended tire size for a 19X8.5 (front) is 245/35. The 19x9.5 (rear) is 275/35.
This information came from both of my sponsors...Enkei Wheels and Toyo Tires. This is what I have and it is the perfect combination. It has enough rubber to absorb potholes (I try not to hit too many though! LOL!), but still give a very sporty feel without alot of sidewall "roll."
Smaller wheels will give you better acceleration, but larger wheels are less taxing on the engine at higher speed.
Good Luck!

I was hesitant at first to get 19's because I didn't want to loose the ride quality, but the ride with 19's is not bad at all. It is still very smooth. My mom rode in my car and she said that the car rode smooth.
Good lookin out. I need pothole protection in Philly. I do care about speed but I like the slow roll wit the chrome makin ya blink!

Actually, the correct 'plus' tire sizes are 245/35-19 and 275/30 -19
This keeps the tire diameters equal front & rear.
Go 19s!
