it's red-plastic-film that you cut to shape and stick on.

Default CSHFLW looks good!

Hey CSHFLW,
Can you explain what was done to achieve this look. After reading thru this thread I am getting a bit confused. Did some of the people on this thread do-it-yourself? Others bought the new lense?

For those who did it themselves, could you provide a detailed account of what was done? Supplies, where to get the supplies, and how long it took, how much it cost to do it?

Thanx.

The red film I got from my local vinyl sticker/car parts shop, but I believe it is made by 3M. It's a red-transparent piece of film, you tell him how long you want it and they'll cut it for you. 5 bucks per 15"x 1 feet. Then you cut them to shape, peel off the back of the film (like a sticker) and stick it on. Very simple.

The 2nd light is smoke film with red circle cutouts. Same material but no one has done it yet.

you can NOT tell it's film from looking. Even if you touch it it FEELs like glass... just like the taillight assembly. The only way you can tell it's stick-on film is if you touch and feel the edge of the film and notice that it's slightly higher than the glass part.

Thanks for the compliments guys. For those who wants to know, I use two pieces for the 2001 + taillights. I have a stencil that I made for the light so I can easly cut it out. When I have time, I'll scan the stencils and post them on the board so you guys can print them and use for yourself. For those who want's to know how I did mine, by the way it took me 4 try's to get it right,
1) draw the shape and cut it out (
2) clean the taillight lights, make sure there are no dust
3) must have soapy water and blow dryer (the reason for the soapy water is because the red film will be very sticky and once you place them on the taillight, it's going to be hard adjust. Think of it this way, it just like tinting a window)
4) wet the taillight and the red film strip with the soapy water
5) position the strip over the yellow area
6) once in positioned, blow dry the film strip so you can shape the film.
7) make sure there is no air bubbles
8) if the positioning is off, just take it out and start with instructions 4 again. If you plan to reposition it again, try to take off before the soapy water drys up or else you will have a hard time taking it out.

Well guys, that's it! Hopefully these are some useful info you guys can use for your next mod.

Cool, thanks for the info Cong.

I think I'm speaking for a lot of people here when I saw I'd definitely be interested in taking a look at those stencils you've got....

Thanks!

unfortunately they are photoshopped but they're 100% doable. When I make something on photoshop I make sure that it's doable in real life so it doesn't look too whacked.

I made a stencil for 90~00 GS taillights that covers the orange part. But it was passed around among Team Lexstacy members and now I don't know where it is.
