Default CHIP the ECU

my friend owns VW and he says that ECU is "chipable" he's just change his chip in his ECU and gain some amount of horse power in his car.. is it possible to do for GS400 '98?

Lightbulb Maybe!

Bit - Man, U & I are in opposite corners tonight!! Just thought I'd share some info that Craig Werlin & I stumbled upon last week. It seems that JET Performance has been given the contract to do some performance mods on the Tundra & it will be offered from the factory & with the full Toyota warranty. Big deal, right? Actually, how this helps the GS owners is that Toyota/Lexus had to give up the encryption protection to their ECU in order for JET to modify the spark & fuel maps!! Remember that this is what's been styming SRT, RMM & even Superchips from doing more intensive electronical mods. Craig's more in the loop on this but he spoke with someone @ JET & they said they could do some serious tuning on the factory ECU. If they operate as they have in the past ( for those unfamiliar with JET, they were right behind HyperTech in the race to crack the TPI codes of the late 80's F-bodies so they've been around & know their stuff ), U'll need to remove the factory ECU ( 2 bolts & it unclips, I recall ) & send it to them. There they will do whatever their magic is ( not sure how much they can do for those of us that R already running SRT's intake/piggyback ECU ) & ship it back to ya. Generally takes 2-3 days total if ya ship things for overnight delivery & return. That's about all I can come up with so before ya'll deluge ME with questions, try giving JET a call ( 1-714-848-5515 ) or hit their website - www.jetchip.com Not sure when it will be ready ( or if this is some more mis-information ) so don't stone me just yet!! Heck, I'm STILL working on Venom about their nitrous kit ( & with NO luck!! )

Hey.... I thought JET locates at Riverside. Either way, I will try to drop by during my spring break. I wonder if I could drop my car off from them for like 6 hours or so. Can't live without my car for one day. hee hee.

Question Cali

RA - I think JET's in Huntington Beach but I don't know my "Best" Coast geography!! Might be worth a drive there to talk with them firsthand. In fact, it might take some of U Cali member to drop off your modded GS rydes for a day or 2 so that JET can have a test mule ( I'm specifically thinking of those who have the SRT or Weapon-R intakes - these mods may throw a wrench into the tuning of the ECU as I'm not sure how "adaptable" the ECU will be after JET mods it ). FWIW - I also shot them off an E-beam & said that I represented several hundred GS owners here on the CL site who were potential customers. Money talks, BS walks!!

Either it's at Riverside or Huntington Beach, they are with an hour drive from my place. Like I said, I will try to arrange an appointment with them, get more detail info about the ECU such as how they can tune it without dyno it, reliability question (engine check light), fuel economy, and etc. If possible, I could drop off my car for couple hours and go play ball at UCI or something.

Mean Gene,

You should include "a guy nicknamed RacingAristo may contact you as the hardware editor of Club Lexus, Southern California Division." in your email Ray, wanna go? Stop spending every moment you have with your girlfriend! A brother needs some love here. HAHAHA.

Okay, back to study....

Shoot - I went to their website, and when I didn't see anything for Lexus, I sent them this email this morning.

Good Morning.

I have recently gotten wind that you guys are considering doing some chip / ECU work for the 98+ Lexus GS400.

I wanted to pass along my enthusiasm, and make you aware that there are several others in the same boat. You may experience many more emails or calls with similar interest. It would be great if you could add some info to your website about these plans to keep this growing segment informed.

Thanks
Oh well - maybe we'll see some Lexus info updated on their website soon.

goto

www.Nopionline.com

put your gs info in and it will get you all the parts for your GS...

one of the parts are JET PERFORMANCE CHIP nopi sends you a empty box with instruction on how to take you ecu out ... in that box you ship the ecu to JET and they send it back to you with the chip installed...

i belive i posted this information about a month or 2 months ago here on CL...

now the chip that jet is selling is it just remapping the air/fuel mixture or does it also have other benifits like taking the limiter off which is a big ++++ especially for those with SRT SC's
