Yep, the center speaker is for the navigation voice. I have one but since there is no navigation disc for Hawaii, I was thinking if turning it into a center channel speaker for a 5.1 DD system.

Hmm, you must be right then. I can't hear anything from the center speaker, and since my navigation has no nav disk it seems to be always silent, thus I thought it was for the nav. What is odd is I'm pretty sure I've seen ML systems without the center speaker since Hawaii never had the nav option, but we did have the ML option (Mine came from the mainland thus I have the nav option). Anyway, you should know more than I since mine doesn't fully work.

in my 2001 the lady speaks from my drivers TWEETER and when i bought my car the center speaker was unplugged (i plugged it up and it was blown so i wired in one of my diamond d6's but it sounded like crap since the component crossovers sets weren't hooked up, i disconnected it again until i hook up my components)

i just thought it was a added speaker for the ML system and BTW ne1 ever price the speaker for this....HAHAHAHA LIKE 300+

I finally heard my center speaker today. Turned the volume up a bit and put my ear near the center vent area by the center speaker and heard nothing. I had to put my ear pretty much on the speaker and then I could hear it I guess mine does work after all.

To clarify. Stock size is 4''. But with adapters you can fit 6 1/2. Max depth of speaker can only be 3''.
