On a GS4 with the a factory installed spoiler with third brake light what do they do with the rear window brake light. Is the housing still there but the light is not functional or do they leave it working?
i have a non-factory spoiler and i have lights on it, i know my mechanic who was installing it he connnected it so that all lights are will lid once you press on breaks, however that 3rd light on the window is hardly see for others due to the spoiler, but i still asked them to leave it
On the GS if you have a "true" factory spoiler (i.e. it was installed at the factory on the production line), you will have a completely sealed (i.e. different) interior rear deck than a dealer installed spoiler.
It is possible that a dealer is telling you it is a factory spoiler (i.e. the same one you would have received had it been installed by the factory...Lexus part), but it was installed by the dealer or local body shop, and they did not disable or remove the third brakelight.
But back to your question, no they are not the same interior decklid, no you should not have a third brakelight inside the car disabled or otherwise if you have a true factory spoiler. I had a huge issue with this when I got my car so most here will agree I am the authority on the third brakelight/decklid issue.
