Well I don't know what to tell us mine came out very easy. The top 2/3 of the glove box aren't moving!? I also had to pull out the long airbag. They had 10mm heads I think. You could try to rap/tap the Phillips driver to vibrate the fastener or break it loose. I can't remember if those small black Phillips screwed into plastic or metal. ( Refering to those along the top of the glove box) But you could possibly take a screwdriver (#2 tip or whatever fits best), and give it small raps. I actually used an electric impact. I never tried a screw driver on those particular screws. For the servo screws I used my Ridgid right angle impact which barely got in there and a no 1 Phillips. I plugged my top servo into the bottoms servo plug, and it moved around kinda happy. So I just reinstalled it. I'll get back into it with a borescope camera when I have more time and look for dumb things like something blocking it, and confirm operation. I do suspect the heater core. Just based on other feedback. But at 49k with magic red coolant!?

Anyone test these servos in the car with a scan tool?

What do the two servos, LEFT of the radio pod do? I see one was labeled driver side temperature somewhere. (Obscure autozone picture).

I need the service manual. I think. I hope the fellow on eBay comes through. It was $10.

I did get that digital manual from ebay source. Definately with the $10, but I haven't yet been able to check out a troubleshooting section that doesn't call out for use of 'intelligent scanner'.

Hello, saw your post about heat issue and read it all. But i have a bit different issue.
I do not have heat on my driver side. Run calibration on my nav system, does not gives any error code, checked passenger and drivers servo's and it moves. But it moves strangely, drivers side moves only from low to highest and vice versa. It moves fully but it does not move a bit if I change small temperature. But after playing with it 10mins i can hear it moving a bit when i change temp. I have managed to set my side moving up to 25 celsius and it blows warm air but not as hot as on passenger side set as 25c. I have full coolant, cleaned cabin filter and checked all servos moves. Any ideas? Seems like an electrical issue maybe there is sensor issue or any fuse somewhere located?

Wow! Thank you! I'm going to have to spend some time taking this all in. Thanks so much for the step by step. Seems beyond my capability, but perhaps when I take it slowly...

I think (based on another thread where I asked the question) that I may need to get the drivers side servo motor replaced, and it is far beyond my ability. I asked Exact Motorsports about it, but they directed me toward the dealership.

I can't reproduce the buzzing sound at will, and I don't notice any functional issues with the climate control/blowers. Is my best course to wait until there's functional impact, and then take it to the dealers? (Or is proper form to get it replaced now, even though I can't prove beyond a doubt that the drivers side servo is the culprit?)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Looks like this is answered by post #99; I just missed it on the first read. Thanks, Sakataj!

Just a quick update for anyone who cares, or is reading this later.

I have managed to reproduce this issue reliably. For the last few days, I was unable to reproduce the issue. Even with climate control off, the buzzing would start more or less randomly (once every couple days), and end before I could try fiddling with the controls.

This has changed as of today, and I can reliably make the issue happen, and make it stop. It happens when the airflow selection is directed at face-only. Once I switch away from face-only to face-and-feet, or feet-and-windshield, the sound goes away. When I go back fo face-only, the sound comes back.

Unless I'm mistaken, this is a mode servo issue. I'm having the mode servo replaced on Monday. Temperatures on driver/passenger side seem to be OK, so I'm leaving those alone.

Big thanks to sakataj and everyone else who helped compile all this info in a single thread.

that does sound to be your mode servo, why not try and fix it yourself now that you figured out what it was? will be much cheaper for you

Oddly enough, the sound occurred at startup but I couldn't reproduce it today using the method described above. As the air blows at correct temps on both sides, my amateur diagnosis of mode servo hasn't changed.

To answer your question: I looked at your DIY and I just know I don't have the skills to pull this off without messing something up!

can anyone help?

my car is not blowing hot air but instead the temperature is the same regardless of where I set it. i had heard the clicking sound and knew right away it was a servo and that it was probably the other servo having fixed the other one last year. this time i believe i fixed this "cooling" or "temp" or "mix" servo (the one to the bottom right of the mode) correctly yesterday since I had fixed the mode servo successfully last year, and the modes are still functioning properly.

however, the temp still does not change. the AC works fine when i press the button but the arm on the servo does not move when i change the temp or hit the AC button. does this servo control the temp? i was only feeling at the driver vent so i'm not sure if there is a different servo for different vents. either way, i'm kinda lost. at first i had a feeling i'd forgot to plug the connector back in, which i did, but then when i clicked it in the temp still didn't change and i don't see the arm moving. aluminum pipes are hot!

Just wanted to say thanks for this DIY. Took me 3hrs to do this.
The only tools I needed to do this was a phillips and a 10mm socket wrench.
Some of the screws had me wondering do I really need a/c?? lol
But all in all not too difficult, just frustrating at times.

welcome, its more obnoxious than hard.... just take your time and its all good. PLUS way cheaper than the $800+ the dealers want for it

anyone? for some reason the rod on the malfunctioning motor is very stiff while the other one rotates freely. i switched motors between the servos and the stiff one isn't working well. since it was making the clicking sound before i fiddled with it i assume i damaged it somehow or maybe someone knows why it would be so resistant. anyone know where to get the motor itself? thanks.
