Default Rb26 2gs?

Hey All,

So I'm sitting at work talking with my friends and we had an idea that seemed off the wall, possible, but just different.

Has anyone ever tried swapping a rb26 into a 2GS? I'm sure there would need to be many drive train upgrades and etc to go along with it but has it been done? We've seen the rb-swapped supra(s) and what not but how bout a GS3?

Not trying to start no flame war anything dumb like that, just trying to start a good conversation between fellow forum members lol.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

I actually thought of doing this too, but with the cost of the motor and labor to fab up parts would be too expensive. Plus, no shop around here was willing to do the work. I did the math and lets just say with the cost of the swap alone, I would've had a very nicely built 2JZ motor.
I went with the GTE setup, its more cost effective and the parts are easier to find compared to the RB26.

LSx swaps are definitely nice. Gobs of power no matter what revs you're at. Plus it's damn light for what it is. I approve

that would be one hell of a swap if completed, but like johnny said for the same amount of money you could have one beast of a GTE

There are no AWD 2nd gens GS', only 1st and 3rd gen have AWD as an option. But since you are crazy enough to swap an RB, why not fab up the AWD from a 1gen or 3gen GS to a 2gen
Then do a front end convertion from a 3gen (Vertix kit), so you can end up with a 2.5gen GS AWD RB MONSTER! Now that's a topic to talk about

my advice to all ppl
think million time before doing it
my cousin have mitsubishi eclipse 2003 or 4 i dont remember and he want on it the evo engine and 4wd.
the project start before 2 years and its completly failed the car doesn't go straight and he have a big failure in the abs and tractions controls and wiring stuff now he can't drive his car and he waste more than 20,000$ so what im saying if u want a fast gs nothing wrong with the 2jz its all up to you and its your decision but don't make the same mistake im not feeling jelous of you because its doesn't matter to me and you are in the other side of the world if u want 4wd car buy an evo or gtr instead destroying your luxury and sporty car.
that's my advice don't feel sad in the first place it's your decision

if I have the time and resource, I would LOVE to do this.

And why a RB26DETT and not a 2JZGTE? 2JZGTE swaps are most likely much easier, and has more parts readily available. Just curious.

i think the ls-7 engine would be the hottest swap in a gs ! if you ever wanted you can get the ls-1,2,7 motor with its own ecu/wiring which is about 1" thick and 4"x6" with only 5 wires to hook up! they make it that way so it can be installed into older hotrods/project cars! light weight and lots of torque/hosepower ! and great gas mileage 24+mpg on the highway !
