Default Trunk Lid Tension

I put a spoiler on the trunk lid of my GS300. Now I have to be so careful when I close it because it just SLAMS down!! Unless I really hold back, it sometimes seem like a miracle in that the spoiler doesn't break off when I shut the trunk. Send a friend to get something out of it who doesn't realize how loose the trunk lid is and then they slam it like they would any other trunk lid. whew, talk about scary!! Any ideas? I moved that bar into the bottom hole. It didn't seem to help. The spoiler is LEXUS.

I don't know the details, but I don't think you adjusted it right. Although I heard once the spoiler actually required different lifts for the trunk lid, but most on here have said it doesn't, just adjusting the tension rods.

bitkahuna,

The only adjustment I saw was the 3 holes where I could place the "tension" bar on each side behind the gray fiber board stuff. I hadd to remove 2 of those plastic bolts from each side to get to the 3 holes. Any ideas?

Default I posted this up here once before

I posted the directions how to adjust the tension once before, I'll try t ofind them since its been a while since I did the adjustment, you'll know if you did it right, unless your spoiler weighs 2x what the stock spoiler weighs. I have an RMM which is larger than stock, but I don't know if/how much heavier?
