Default GS400 100K Service

Sorry, I tried searching, but what is the full list for a 1998 GS400 100K service?

I have my own mechanic, and don't want to go to a dealer.

We have replaced timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, air filter and performed an oil change

Thanks

Have you replaced your lower ball joints and tie rod ends?

Have you ever heard the stories of people's lower ball joints breaking? Search it.

my car is at like 94k i was planning on doing the timing belt waterpump but after talking to my cousing 98 gs400 150k never got the timing or waterpump and is still fine...
also our otherfriend just got his waterpump timing belt done at 200k also a 98gs400
im thinking now of waiting awhile i have no issues currently instead i was thinking of gettin my radiator fluid flushed and rear diff fluid flushed and wait till around 140k
anybody else never do the waterpump timing belt
also is the motor a non intereference motor?

The engine is an interference engine. If the timing belt breaks you will have major damage.

Think about it in terms of time rather then mileage.
If you are planning on keeping your car for some time into the future, consider that you are going to do your waterpump/timing belt 1 time. So you don't need to wait until the parts are completely used up, but rather get the usage of the new parts right now.

If you wait till 140k, maybe 3 more years, you may spend those 3 years worrying about if your car will break before replacing it. Then at that point, are you really going to keep your car for another 140k miles to get the same amount of time on the new parts?

On the other hand, if you replace it now, enjoy the next 100k miles worry free, and likely you will upgrade before the new parts wear out. If you keep your car longer, you can use your new parts for 140k or whatever you were thinking about originally.

This is all if there is no other financial factor playing a role. If you see yourself getting rid of your car soon though, maybe don't do this major service.

They all may just last up to and/or past 200k, but the reward is not worth the risk - on these interference motors.

ok so i searched to see if anyone actually had there timing belt snap... and i couldnt find anything
i get the worries part and everything but this what i gotta think
i live in the bay area weather is always just normal not -10 or 100+
this car or all cars can drive in those conditions and thats when theres more wear on rubber parts in extreme temperatures or hard driving which is rarely done.. anyways i got my balljoints done because i could hear the popping and even when they came out they werent that that bad but that was a piece of mind i see my other cousins with 200k and he just got it done thats pushing it...
the other at 150k it should be done about now
heres some quotes i found
My buddy was at 150-160k miles before he did anything to the car. I was surprised to see the belt was still in okay condition.

144,000 miles before I did the full 90 k maintenance. at 142,000 miles I heard weird noises coming from the engine...a whining noise(is that spelled right?)

around 140K u are pushing it....

the noise was probably the tensioner bearing
anyways I probably will get it done when its just convienant and **** if the engine does blow GTE with a 6spd my dream lol

oh yah my accessory belts look good no cracks no wear so that should be a good indication
