Default Battery terminal replacement

My battery terminal carroded awhile back, and I haven't been able to find a good replacement terminal ever since. All the terminals I find, don't fit properly, causing the terminal to not have good contact and cause the car to not start sometimes. Where can I get a good replacement terminal that actually fits?

if their too big take a wrench and squeeze the sides in, but don't do it too hard or else it won't fit.

Sounds like your battery posts are the problem to me. How old is the battery? Replace the battery or try the method mentioned above.

You can pick up a replacement battery terminal set at Pepboys for under 10 bucks. I replaced my loose positive battery terminal a few years ago and so far so good. The replacement terminals I purchased from Pep boys is of better quality & material than stock. Good luck.

The battery is new. I got it in Feb. Almost all the terminals I find at Pepboyz, Advance Auto, Autozone, and Bennett are actually too small. The closest one I found I had to actually pry it open to fit around the terminal, but now the screw wont go on the end to tighten the terminal because of the angle of the gap on the end. And the other terminal I found, if it was not the battery post pole being to small, then it was an issue with the termal mounting screw hole (the part that screws onto the main care wire) being to small. The factory one I had on before worked fine, now all the ones I find at these auto parts stores are not direct replacements.

Since my initial post, my car has turned off while driving on the highway twice due to the loose battery termal. Lights flicker if I press on the break, use turn signal, anything. As soon as I reposition the terminal to a more snug position by hand, all the car electrics work fine.

Are you being sure to buy the correct terminal? The positive and negative terminals have different sizes. Honestly, off the top of my head I forget which is smaller and which is larger, but they are not equal. I myself have used some gold plated Streetwires battery terminals with no problems.

This was my next comment. The positive is larger. Most of the aftermarket clamps are for the positive since that's where people are usually hooking accessories up.

Is you negative side the problem?

I think at AZ its called "lead free teriminal". It has a few different parts in there and i think its the closest aftermarket part available to a factory toyota peice. It has the stud facing up that you drop your wire eye-lets over and lock down with a nut.
