I just mount mine on the windshield in the center. I got a garmin streetpilot (they are huge, but I got a great deal).

It doesn't look that appealing, but it does the job.

I wonder if a portable nav could be mounted in a GS on a bracket similar to what I have done in my LS. Here are the details: https://www.clublexus.com/gallery/sh...22167&cat=3365

There are AMPS bracket adapters for the Garmin Nuvi series from a number of companies -- google "Nuvi AMPS adaptor" to find them.

Pro.Fit doesn't list a bracket for a GS but I'd bet the model I used would work since it fits most other Toyota and Lexus cars.

Having the GPS mounted next to the radio makes it easy to reach both for me and my wife who is usually the one looking for POI's while I'm driving. And the GPS display doesn't "wash out" from sunlight like it does when it's attached to the windshield.

I usually don't remove the GPS from the bracket -- it's almost invisible from outside the car due to the tinted windows and the windshield sunshade I use.

My concern would be having it stolen also, but I like what you've done with the bracket mount. I think the 130S might fit on that bracket since it's a bit smaller but my 930 might need a larger bracket or a bit of extra soldering

I have been thinking about getting one of the smaller ones, and putting it in the ash tray area. I was going to remove the ashtray and the cigarette lighter and cut the whole section out if need be, then make a custom mount and put the whole nav unit in there. I was going to try and make it centered and flush, so the "ash tray" could still open and close... easy to hide when parked, or not using it.

I got my I-phone (has GPS) on a mount connected to the cig lighter area as it also doubles as a bluetooth wireless system. My garmin is mounted with suction cups where ever I want it, as I remove it, for when using it on my bike or atvs.

I shove my Garmin 782 right above the steering column to the right, it fits in-between the curvature of the gauge and the glass. The thing has a 5 hour battery in it (I don't know if yours has a battery) but it stays there, and when I am done with it I put it away, and charge it when it starts to die (it takes like 1.5 hours to charge) It works very well for me, hopefully that might help.

I just picked up an '05 Xterra last week, and already have my TomTom mounted. There's a Garmin kit for the Nuvi 750, but it's $1000. Theres a perfect spot to mount it right on top of the dash- already have custom splash screens and an Xterra icon for my arrow on the map- I'll try to get pics up soon
