Default TRD Supercharger

There is a Supercharger for the 4.7L V-8 Toyota Tundra made by TRD. The very same engine is in the LX470. Now, the same engine is in the GS 400 and 430 with the exception of bore size and VVTi. I bet you it would work, it should. If it wouldn't I would really like to know why, the same bolt pattern, same location of everything. The numbers for the Tundra stock are 245hp and 315lb/ft torque. With the supercharger bolted on and with 5 psi pressure it pumps to 340hp and 457lb/ft torque!! That is without jet-chip remapping fuel and timing curves. With variable valve timing the numbers would be very exciting. You guys take it from here.

See www.pickuptruck.com click on Toyota and then TRD Supercharger news, also click on pre-production for more pics and specs.

Lextek.

Default Spoke to TRD...

Just got off of the phone with TRD and he said it would work in concept but our manifold sits too high and the SC would not fit without a drastically redesigned hood.
I asked if there are any plans on a SC for the 4.0 or 4.3 GS and he said if there was more demand then they would consider it. As of right now there are no plans. Anybody want to get a *petition* that spells out our desire for one? I'm not asking for a commitment but just a voice to TRD.
What do you think?

If you would include first and second generation SC400s, I'm in.

Hey Guys,

Talk to Steve Gantz at Carson Toyota...This news that your are posting is about 4 months old. I just don't want you guys to waste your time and effort.

If TRD wanted to release the SC for the GS4, they could have done it a long time ago. The fact that they said "if more people would be interested, then they might consider it" is the same response they gave 4 months ago and nothing has changed. It does not look good...

If you want to pay the bucks, talk to Todd at TMEngineering. He'll do it for you but it will cost money since it's custom and not a kit...

Screw it. The point was TRD and about 3500 bucks, not a one off custom for eight grand.

Yup,

I agree with you totally...but that's just it. TRD hasn't budged for 4 months so I doubt if there is any more movement towards a kit now...

PS FYI, with Todd it would be the TRD SC but it won't be a kit, cuz you would have to replace the heads to fit the SC and then redesign a hood for clearance...Plus, the ECU needs to be remapped which is the MOST challenging part...That's why it would be custom. BUT after he does one car, it can become a kit...
