Default Tight oxygen sensor

Hi guys,

I'm trying to remove my (bank 2, sensor 2 - located under passenger) O2 sensor, but it is way too difficult to remove with a regular wrench (7/8). I tried putting WD40 for about half and hour, and even over night - still stuck.

Any recommendations?

there are special sockets that fit 02 sensors that you can then put a ratchet on or breaker bar. make sure you'r ein a good position to exert maximum force.they are tight! if you're doing it on the ground in y our driveway, it's doubly difficult to put enough force on it to break it loose which is why i recommend a pipe about 3 feet long slipped over a breaker bar.

true. wd40 simply displaces water. it doesn't eat rust. pb blaster is good ****.

Yah...run the engine a bit....or go for a quick 5 min drive....that should heat up the exhaust pipe a bit...and it should come off easily.

Thanks. I will give PB a try first. If that doesn't work, then torch it.

So the PB + Torch worked out very well.

The only problem I got during the install was that I accidentally got some anti-seizure compound (which Denso includes for you to put on the sensor's threads) on the actual sensor tip. Tried to clean as much, but the compound within the meshed tip remained. I hope it still works fine.

Also, is the check engine light suppose to instantly turn off? Because it's still on. Or do I reset the ECU?

even if you reset the ecu, the code and light will still be there. it's called a hard code which means it stays until it's cleared by a scan tool.

that anti seize could affect the performance of the sensor dpeending on how much is on it. hopefully it will burn off.

glad that worked out for you. but you might want to look for an auto part store that does the check engine light for free.
