GS 300 Modification
Hi There:
Great to have a forum like this to post questions and read about other lexus owners' experience.
I have a 1998 GS300, aand so far love it. I want to do some modification, but a bit hesitant to lose much of the comfort and luxury afforded by the original componenets. Though, body roll is a bit too much, and is probably the first thing I need to correct. I have the orginal 16" wheels, 225/60/16 Dunlope sport5000. Not bad for all season weather. I have 55K miles, and a warranty to 100K, whch I really do not want to affect.
Any thoughts and actual experience is appreciated.

I would upgrade your wheels if cash flow is going on. Or i would go with lowering and/or sway bars. There are endless things you can do, just do a search or check out the suspension area in this forum.
I feel the same way as you. I want to mod, and I don't want to mod. I don't want to ruin the overall Luxury and comfort or the vehicle, the sole reason why I bought Lexus. But then again I want to add my own favor to the car. I agree with gsnav and at least get wheels and suspension, at least this what I am going to do.
I'll try and not get my lunch handed to me for this, but...
I upgraded my 2000 GS300 to BBS 17X8 wheels with +1 tires and have been very pleased with the result. It will NOT reduce actual body roll but will reduce the overall effect of your "pit of the stomach" feel when hard corning.

Thanks for all the replies. I have been reading about modifications by the members, all very enlighting!!
The biggest problem for aftermarket tune ups, is the uncertainty about the results, lack of warranty, and the risk of needing more fix/tune once you start. Would anybody advise that the best result is going with the L-tuned components, as it may be more assuring to have the same designer/manf. doing such enhancment, and for the applicibility of lexus warranty??
Another element of risk is what if you don't like the new feel of the car, reversal to the original, often costly $$$$
Those of you who don't have the HID headlight, would you recommend the PIIA super white or some other brand??
Whatt about the intake from SRT, how's the feeling after the replacement. IS IT WORTH the $$$.
Reseting the ECU?? any idea how and what the benefits are??
:
As for the wheels and tires. Man, if you live in snowy area, Albany New York, it is not cool to be driving sideways. I have the stock wheels 16", and Dunlope W rated 225/60/16, can not pull the car a slight hill into my driveway if the white stuff is covering the ground. Snow tires are A+++++ for such weather.

Hi JF,
I am in the same boat as you. I recently purchased a 98 GS300, and after reading and seeing pics of these guys sweet rides, I am definately getting the modbug. I am apprensive because I dont want to lose the comfort of the car. Although I agree with what someone mentioned...NEED RIMS!! So thats my first thing that I am going to do. I'm not looking to build a race car here, just want a car that looks sweet, rides like a dream, has some *****, and turns some heads. Thats all. Any suggestions are welcome!
Thanks,
ROB
