Okay after searching all the threads regarding the power steering fluid change I couldn't find the answer to my question.
First, I know I'm supposed to ATF fluid in the power steering, specifically Dexron II or III.
Over the last couple weeks I have been exchanging my old transmission fluid with the recommended fresh Toyota Type IV fluid. I have a couple quarts left and would like to use to exchange the fluid in the power steering over the next week.
Will the Toyota Type IV work in my GS400 power steering or do I need to get specifically Dexron II or III ATF fluid???
While it "probably" won't hurt, why would you want to risk it. You already went through the trouble of using typeIV instead of generic ATF for your trans, so obviously you do care to use the proper fluids.
Just get a bottle of dextron compatible ATF fluid from your local parts store. It's not expensive.
Save your 2quarts of typeIV for another drain and fill later.
