Default My GS wiring adventures...

First of all, let me tell you this was very time consuming

How it all started was when I did my 2JZ-GTE VVTi swap. I run dual ecu(stock GS300 + AEM EMS) so I had to make a custom harness. First thing I did was to tear apart the stock GS harness and mate it to the 2JZ-GTE motor. Everything was loomed and smaller wires put into nylon sleeving.

Picture of the stripped up engine harness. This is actually halfway complete already heh.

Close up of all the wires with nylon sleeving. Yes...EVERY wire on the engine harness going to a connector was sleeved. Talk about time consuming! lol

Everything wired up, but the AEM EMS is sitting in the engine bay with wires exposed. I ran my car like this for about 3 months. I was really lazy to run the AEM inside the car. You will see why...

This is why. Each one of those wires is 10ft. I ordered a huge spool of 1000ft of 18ga and 20ga wire...yes I'm crazy like that. There's also a pair of shielded wires going to the critical sensors(cam/crank/knock). It might not look like much but there are 35 wires or so. Yes, thats about the length of a football field! Just cutting these wires to exact length was an excruciating chore lol...

Wiring in progress. That big bunch of wires hanging there. That's about 1/3 of the total wires!

End of Day 1. Finished 30%

Middle of Day 2. Finished basic harness. Time to plug it into the car and hope everything works lol.

End of Day 2(Today). Semi finished. Ran out of electrical tape so I couldn't finish sealing up the plastic loom. Will finish tomorrow and update with more pictures!

Finished product! Those 2 thick tubes of cables on the very side of the engine bay. The one I did is the one on the right, looks OEM!

Complete shot of engine bay as it is now. No more rats nest of wires anymore

Expandable sleeves FTW!!! It sure beats plastic looms when it comes to aesthetics.

Any reason why you didn't go with the fire-proof sleeves? I only run this in my engine bay. I can't imagine running the regular sleeves, especially so close to the engine!

Holy crap, I feel your pain. I ordered the PnP harness for my FCON, the only problem was that the extension was only long enough to run from the ECU box to the drivers footwell. I wanted it to be mounted in the glove box so I had to extend the harness 37 times at 6 ft. a piece. 74 individual soldered and shrink wrapped connections. Great job though, your end product looks fantastic.

Worked on it a few hours today and I'm finally done. It's NOT easy pushing a thick bundle of wires with connectors through the rubber seals lol. But it is finished at last and the engine bay no longer has the nasty wiring.

A daunting task well done. That was a mod that I must admit, I probably would have payed someone to do.

Thumbs up

Excellent job as usual, Jeff! Looks nice and tidy. Now our folks on Wednesday night will have to find another question #3.

Typically:
1. How much Horsepower?
2. Wanna race my friend?
3. What's with all those green wires?

*LOL*

Do I recognize some familiar headlights there?

OMG! Nice job! I hate wiring the most of all things. I don't mind wrenching.... but wiring.... No way!
