A Lexus Dealer in Virginia is offering me a CPO GS400 Platinum Edition w/Nav for 36k. It has 14k miles on it. Is 36,500 a good price for this vehicle. I have been driving a 92 ES300 for five years and will be giving it to my mother so does the GS sound like a good deal. She is also offering me a 98 GS400 w/Nav and 47k miles for 31,600. Any help would be appreciated as I must give the salesman a answer soon.
I just bought a 2000 Platinum Edition w/Nakamichi, 15,000 miles for $38,500, so your deal sounds very good.
Did you look the VIN up in Carfax? You can also get a record of all the maintenance work of the vehicle through the dealer if the previous owner got the GS serviced at a Lex dealer.
I will do that. I will have the VIN numbers run. From what she is telling me it is a lease turn so I hope that they got all the maintenances done. I will run the numbers though. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't getting taken. I have done a lot of research and according to edmunds and kbb I am getting it for less than wholesale. We shall see.
I don't know but to me it sounds high. I'll tell you why. When I bought my wife her 2000 gs 4000 platinum last year in feb (as a left over), we got it for $41.3k. Damned thing had a Lexus MSRP of $51.?K FYI, it was virtually a cash transaction so there was no getting burned on the trade in, my finance rate was better than most people at that time (7.5) as well although I expect that probably they made a 1/4 or 1/2 point on the back end
Am I nuts or did I just do a good job raping my local dealer............
The dealership is Lexus of Alexandria. I have put a deposit on it but they have some other nice cars. Ask for Keysha Quinn and tell her James Smith referred you. If you decide to check them out that is. There are like 4 dealerships in the DC Metro area. This one is the best in my opinion. Second is Pohanka Lexus in Chantilly, then Lexus of Silver Spring in Maryland and lastly Lexus of Rockville in Maryland. This is the second time I have bought a Lexus and Lexus of Alexandria has consistenly been the best. Again, I found the salesmen at Lexus of Rockville rude. They must have come over from MB or BMW
I think you just got a very good deal at the time. The few 2000 GS400 Platinums I have found online were 38.5 and up. None came close to the low miles on this one. Yes you raped the dealer with no KY:eek:
Yo Yo Yo! Don't buy from Alexandria LINDSAY motherfu@ks! They took advantage of me. I'd bought CPO 98gs400 Blk last year, and the car was a major junk!!! I had so many problems with it, tooo many to name... One major problem was the paint. When I first bought it, it looked perfect (I checked it out 3x before purchase). Next day I bought the car, I washed it. As soon as I'd dried it off, white spots were everywhere on the hood, trunk, and ceiling of the car... the car looks very crapy. I'd told the dealer, and they wet sanded for me. (They were very rude about it too) Wet sanded made it look good for about...... 2 days or so, then it repeared. Don't buy from Lindsay... Alexandria VA!!! I had to take the car in like 4 times for repair, and they rented me crapy volvo, unlike pohanka, were they give you lex to rent!
driver door locks didn't work
speaker missing on driver side.
weird noises from all speakers when I use my phone (also not using the phone too)
came with only one key.
car shook over 80mph.
heated seats (both) did not work at all.
very bad service from everybody...
missing cd changer magzine.
man I'm still MAD at them!!!
this was our second lex purchase.
Wow, I didn't have any problems with my first Lexus I bought from them and it was 5 years old with 65k miles. I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience. I will check everything out thoroughly before I give them a check for the balance. I guess that's all I can do. I went to Lexus of Pohanka and they were very nice, they just didn't have the car I wanted and he didn't know when he would get it. We shall see. If I have any problems with my car I will call the 1 800 customer service number and run a ad in the local paper. I will make it very uncomfortable for them to do business. Hopefully I won't have any of those problems.
