Default Jump Start

I tried jump starting my 99 GS300 after being parked for the winter. After connecting the jumper cables the interior lights came on and the key in the ignition chime started working. After a few minutes I turned the key and heard a pop from under the hood. Now nothing, no chime, lights or anything..any suggestions? Appreciate any help you can throw my way. By the way great site wish I had found it a few years ago.
Thanks!

You do know that you're supposed to ground the negative terminal from the jump cables to the chassis correct? For the 2nd gen, this is a must, or else your fuses blow out.

Check your fuses under the hood.

I would agree that it was a fuse, but depending upon how load the pop was will determine if the fuse block blew out as well. I hope not.

Really? I've had no problems just using the negative terminal on the battery. Where did u get this info from?

Shouldn't be a problem. There is a very short wire from the negative terminal to the chassis anyways. The point is to minimize resistance, but since the wire is so short, it's not a big deal.

I don't know about the fuses being blown but I thought you should not use the negative battery post as it could create a spark and ignite the fumes from the battery.
