no. there is no difference between jdm or usdm. in fact i would prefer usdm more than anything.

the difference is between vvti and non-vvti 2jz shortblock. the vvti shortblock is weaker at the rods and ringlandings, and is about 500whp max.

Oh thanks Eli. Great info. I hope to get a GS within a week =]. I really want a black. But I think I settle for the "gold" or if i could get silver or candy apple red I'll be more than satisfied.

With the ball joints does it have the same symptoms as CV joints? ... "Clicking while turning" and what not?

'98-00 have weaker lower ball joints than 01+. When i changed my joints at 100k, it was perfectly fine. however, some other member's joints failed at 95k miles.

the front control arm bushings (5 on each side) are probably worn out as well. They are the firsts ones to go out if anything, and will make that clicking sound when you back out, brake and turn out of a parking lot. Daizen makes an aftermarketing bushing set for it. Aftermarket arms are mostly metal joint and will cost you an arm and a leg.

I'm not a big fan of the gold on the 2GS but if you plan on painting it then why not go for it.
