I read on one of these threads that the arm rest is the first item in the interior to show any wear. About that time, I found a black one on EBay for $30.00, perfect condition, with the latch. A few months after getting it, I broke the cover latch accidently on my car. Lexus wanted $35.00 for the plastic latch. It paid for itself right there. Packed the rest of it away for future use.

They probably used vinyl right?

I wish we had a place like that in LA, I had to go to the junk yards for our land cruisers armrest.

Yes its a light shade lighter and brand new dude, but know this..... when you take the leather rap off the armrest, you will see that the leather which is hidden... meaning the leather inside the arm rest is lighter than the leather that is exposed. leather darkens within time, thats my understanding and what the upholster told me. Take the top part of the arm rest and yo will see that the inner part is lighter.

Nice job with the armrest. To answer your question, yes, compound is your best bet
