Default Launching techniques, what Are your Secrets

I had posted a post about gs400 and how good traction they have or dont have? After some of the replies I got it made me wander how everyone else launched theirs to get best race time. exp vsc on or off, power or normal mode, In drive or manual or Low 1. I was told that in drive it starts off in 2nd gear and the only way to take off in 1 is to put it on L and shift to 2 manually. Let me know what you all do to chap some a$$ on the street!!!!

Get a torque converter But seriously, if you want to make a huge difference in your launching on the street an upgraded (higher stall) torque converter will make a HUGE difference, more than anything you can do with the stock + technique.

Don't spin. spinning = losing . torque converter makes sense and good sticky tires. just put it in drive. manual shifting doesn't work that well. vsc off an power ect on.right at 2000 rpm you will start to spin. power brake to right under 2000 rpm and launch at maybe 1800 rpm and let the auto trans do its thing.

im talking pretty much stock other than maybe sticky tires. like does traction controll help or hurt you more? manual shift or auto shift? that kind of things. and even tourgue braking it a little to get rpm's up some, but not to much to spin. have to get to that happy median

Putting your shifter or e-shift in 2 doesn't start you in 2nd. It tells the transmission it can use 1 or 2.

Put it in 3 and the transmission will use 1, 2, or 3 and so on.

You can get the car to start in 2nd by using the snow setting.

If you are at the track, lower your tire pressure down somewhere between 18-24, depends on the car, tires and track.

ok so there should be no difference in speed if you have it in D or have it in L then. still takes off in 1st gear.

I've heard brake torquing is the best method (shifter in D) ... and yes when the shifter is in D the car is atomatically put in 2nd gear, when you slam the pedal the car will shift down to first and take off, if you slightly push the pedal the car stays in 2nd. From a roll the best method is to drop the shifter into the lowest gear possible while maintaining your speed even with the other car, and when you say go slam the gas and you'll take off quicker than if it's in D, when you slam the pedal in D it takes about a second to downshift to the proper gear and wastes too much time ...

-So from a standstill use brake torque from D (around 1700 - 1800 RPM)
-From a roll, shift manually

disclaimer: I do not encourage anyone to street race

What do you mean by brake torque? While in D press the brake and gas it to 1700-1800 rpm? Sorry, I haven't had to many auto cars.

Yes. The moment you slam the gas down all the way, release the brake pedal. You heard it here first.
