seems like the 3rd generation GS's have a soft market. They depreciated value fast.

they depreciate faster than the second gens, especially the AWD versions because of "issues" with reliability....

Guys, are you saying that that a 2005 GS430 would be more reliable then a 2006 GS430, or is this just perception? The reason I ask is that I am looking at both a 2005 430 and 2006 and am trying to make a decision myself. (2006 has more mileage and costs more)

reliability isn't the problem. It's the build quality. The 06 is a first year model and it still has some quirks to it. Dash rattles and such issues. For the 2nd gen, the 05 is the last year so most of its bug has been worked out by then.

I say get the 06. It's all around new and has that 6spd tranny that's great for the highway.

Nope I'm not kidding, here's some autotrader finds below

There's a bunch of them on autotrader right now.

Here's another:

Need I continue?? Pass on it, the newer GS bodystyle is going to hold it's value better, and I don't think you will miss the hp that much, I think it's rated at 245. You could get a '06 430 for around 30k if you look around.

#1 Here's a link http://www.cars.com/go/search/search...=&aff=national ... The absolute CHEAPEST on the list is about $27k but with over 45k miles already and the most expensive is over $40k with around 20k miles (this is for the '06 GS300) average price of these is between $30-$35k.

#2 http://www.cars.com/go/search/search...=&aff=national ... As for the '06 GS430 the cheapest is $30k with 51k miles and is from private owner, I wouldn't trust that ... Most expensive is $50k with just over 10k miles, and the average price is around $36-$42k ...

#3 O yea btw the HP difference is a big deal, if you've driven the 300 and 430 you will want the extra HP, it just packs such a nice punch. Now you could always decide to try to find a GS350 which compares nicely to the 430, they are quick man, plus they use slightly less gas ... Either way good luck, if you like the car and believe it's a good deal go for it, don't let anyone's opinions hold you back
