Hey folks, sorry for the delay. Between the new Dodge Viper and the Xbox, I don’t have time to come here too often. But I have received a few emails on this so here they are.
Though the newer grill does have fewer ribs, it does take twice as long to strip because of the extra ribs that are recessed on the sides of the larger ribs. Product used was the Orange Strip recommended on the earlier thread (sorry, forgot who).
The emblem was chrome and even Steve wanted 56.00 for a gold emblem. Suggested price is 96.00 for the front emblem. I had this one plated for $13.50 shipped. Fantastic job.
Overall, IMO this grill gives the GS a more aggressive look. Fit is even better than the grill that was on the car.
Well, got to go, back to finishing the headers on the Snake.

By the way, the grill ribs are not entirely chromed. The ribs are chromed only half way back. The ribs on the older grill is entirely chromed, at least mine was. This cannot be seen however unless you "really squint" up close to notice.
Old grill is not available for sale in case anyone was curious. Big 335's in the Dodge went over them while backing into the garage after the photo was taken. Oppps.

 

Great comparison pictures mayandoom between the older grill and the newer version.. When we did my buddy's '01 grill we also noticed the sides of the ribs weren't totally chrome..
