Loose gas cap will cause VCS/ABS light to come on? Not to put down that advice but logically that doesn't make sense. I understand if the CEL gets triggered but why would the VCS/ABS light get triggered?

Has it happened to you and you talked to the dealer and you took their advice and the problem was fixed in 30 seconds. NO? Well I did!

Any other solutions to this problem?

Things I've done so far:
- Alternator is charging with 14.41V while idling.
- Battery is less than a year old and holds a charge with no problems.
- Gas cap is tight.
- Left battery disconnected overnight to reset ECU.
- All connections in the area have been disconnected and reconnected a couple times.

It started when the idler pulley locked up and through the belt off. That was 1800 miles ago. The car ran fine for the rest of the trip from Flagstaff to South Carolina.

What does CEL stand for?
Is this different from the ECU codes?
