Default 9.5 MPG ? something is wrong..

Hey guys,

I did a search and most people say cleaning the fuel injectors helps witth mileage..

I just realized what ****ty mileage I am getting and have a feeling something is really wrong.

EPA Fuel Economy - miles per gallon
city / highway / observed
18 / 23 / 19

Those are the average ratings for MPG.

If I fill up my tank...I can go about 190 miles...city and highway (primarily city)
this means that I am getting like 9.5mpg.
((Im calculating my MPG based on 19.8 gallon tank, but that doesnt mattter because im still only getting 180 a filling))

I put techron to clean my fuel injectors but havent noticed much improvement.

Changing gas stations hasnt helped either.. =\

Anyone have any ideas???

lol, and that extra 600 pounds you're toting around in the trunk isn't going to help much.

Tire pressure?

Perhaps is not car -- is driver?

Try some word association:

Traffic ==
Speed ==
2.0 Liter ==

If you answered 'sucks', 'ludicrous' and 'pathetic', you may just need to adjust you're driving.

technically you can't calc the mpg by dividing by 19.8 the size of our tank, you have to divide by the number of gallons you actually put in, usually with the gas light on, it's closer to 16, which still is crappy mileage at 11.5 or so. I would suggest having the dealership to do a fuel injection cleaning service for $119.00. They hook up the BG product directly to your fuel rails and run the car a pure cleaner so it's not diluted. Good luck!

Sounds about right. I usually get about 150miles for a 15 gallon fill up Then again it could be my driving style lol.

As for your situation, you don't calculate based on 19.8gal. If you did use 19.8gal then you wouldn't be at the gas station, you would be on the side of the road lol. If you fill up right on the dot when that gas light comes on, then that's about 15-16 gal. If you use it until the needle goes under the line with a bit of gap between the needle and line, then that's about 18-19gal. If the gap gets a bit too big then you've reached 19.8, don't ask me how I know this

I just replaced my air intake filter to the k&n drop in and I noticed a big increase in mpg, I usually get 180-190miles at halfway with no cargo, but after the replacement I'm getting 210-220miles at halfway with 2 passengers and probly about 300lbs of cargo on top of that.

check ur air filter and maf and probly add some oil treatment too

I drive mostly highway and I get about 275 to a tank at mid 18 to 19 mpg. Use cruise control, try not to step on it so much. Buy some lighter shoes.

On a sidenote, I think I gained 1 mpg after installing the K&N FIPK.
