Can't get Intake Manifold off (starter replacement)
On the drivers side the big electrical wiring harness is in the way, I unbolted the plastic cover but still can't move it enough to get it out of the way. Any ideas?
Does anyone have the factory manifold scanned and online?

nytoy - I just finished rebuilding the starter on my GS400 this weekend. The wire bundle on the driver's side needs to be GENTLY moved to the side before you can lift the manifold off. Make sure all the connectors are unplugged, and be gentle lifting it over the engine installation hook. Better yet, you can take the engine hook off the head, which will make it easier to get the plastic loom and wires over to the side. Are you rebuilding your starter or replacing with new? I just rebuilt mine, with new armature bearings, and new contacts and plunger in the solenoid. That was only $57 using dealer repair parts. You should be able to get the repair parts from any Toyota dealer, as well. Saves about $250 over the cost of a OEM rebuilt starter. I reused my intake gaskets, no problem, that saves another $50-75. You can remove the starter without taking the cross-over water pipe off at the back of the heads. Good luck, you can do it!!!

Thanks for the post, but I went back out and figured you had to move that damn wiring harness to get it off and did just that, moved it over the hook and finished it. I got a rebuilt one for $250 because I didn't have the patience to rebuild, I also took off the crossover tube and reused the gaskets, I got new intake manifold ones because they were only $16 a piece. thanks!
