Default Help...!! - Car is acting funny...

So it was any other oil changing day for my 99' GS300, i bought 6 quarts worth of synthetic oil (mobil) and changed the oil. After i finished that, i applied this belt dressing for the pulley. My dad thought it would be a good idea to use engine degreaser and clean my engine The degreaser specifically said to cover the carberator, any electric components and do not use it on the intake. Apparently he didnt do a good job and was soaking everything with the stuff and he rinsed the whole engine with water....

Now my car is making a loud squeaky noise when i rev up the rpm to around 1500-2000... Does anyone know whats wrong with it? i think its the pulleys acting crazy, but it could be the timing belt by any chance?

Probably just the water on the belts causing the squealing. Should go away after the engine has warmed up and nice and hot.

I shouldn't be the timing belt. let the car run a little while and check if the noise is still there.

yeah belt dressing isnt what it is cracked up to be. does the job for a small amount of time. but what happens is dirt then sticks to it and then it sticks to your belt itself. sometimes when you degrease the motor all the dirty stuff culminates onto the pulleys or belts where water rests and then when you turn the car on it starts to squeak. i take my serpentine belt out when i am degreasing. just let it run and air out. you'll be fine!

the thing is that i let the car warm up for while, but everytime i rev the car around those rpms (1500-2000), the car squeaks.... i also thought it couldve been the oil filter, because i pretty much tightened it with my hands, so i guess the noise couldve been from that. Im going to try to warm it up and air it out... o btw, what does it mean to air it out. Im guessing warming it up with the hood open?
